The LG UltraGear 24GL600F-B is a good 24″ 1080p TN monitor. It’s a good monitor for the money, and it supports FreeSync, has low input lag, and good motion handling for gaming. This screen can reach extremely high brightness levels and handles reflections admirably. As with most TN displays, its overall picture quality is poor due to poor viewing angle, contrast, and black uniformity performance. The 24GL600F-B may be difficult to set for optimal viewing due to its awkward design.

Strong Structures

Overall, the LG 24gl600f is well-made. It’s mostly plastic, and some of the pieces may feel cheap, but everything else appears to be in working order. The ergonomics of the 24GL600F are severely lacking in comparison to the other LG UltraGear monitors we’ve tested. Because of its limited tilt range, lack of height adjustment, and inability to swivel, it’s difficult to achieve the ideal viewing angle. The back is straight, but it does share the UltraGear trademark ring design with other monitors. When compared to the 24MP59G-P, this monitor’s ability to be VESA mounted is a significant advantage, particularly given its poor ergonomics.

Lightness and Display

The LG UltraGear 24GL600F’s contrast ratio in a dark room is one of the best we’ve seen on a TN monitor, but it’s still below average. This display does not support local dimming. The peak brightness of the LG UltraGear 24GL600F-SDR B is adequate. The brightness fluctuates very little, which is fantastic. This screen’s brightness should be adequate in most situations, but in a bright office, it may struggle to compete with glare.

Solid grey uniformity. The upper portion of the image is noticeably dimmer, as with the ASUS VG245H. This is caused by a narrow vertical viewing angle rather than a lack of homogeneity. Homogeneity is significantly improved in extremely dim settings. The black on this screen is not consistently dark. The screen is cloudy throughout, with a backlight bleed to the left. This may differ significantly between storage facilities.

VRR

This LG UltraGear LG 24gl600f monitor does not support NVIDIA G-SYNC, but it does support FreeSync when connected to a modern NVIDIA graphics card via DisplayPort.

When connected via HDMI, the monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz, but it occasionally flickered during testing. We didn’t have this problem with DisplayPort.

The response time of the LG UltraGear 24GL600F-quick B reduces the appearance of blurring behind fast-moving objects. “Fast” is our top pick among the four options for how quickly the system responds because it produces the most consistent results. We do not recommend the ‘Faster’ setting because it has significant overshoot in many transitions despite having much lower overall response times.

Compatibility and features

The LG 24GL600F is compatible with current MacBooks. The variable refresh rate option causes no flickering in-game or on the desktop. When you wake up your laptop after sleeping or shutting it down, Windows will be exactly where you left it. Surprisingly, when VRR is enabled, the computer’s refresh rate remains constant after waking up from sleep.

Beyond the basics, you shouldn’t expect much from this monitor. It, like other gaming monitors, allows you to add a black frame around the screen and a virtual crosshair for use in any game. There are no built-in speakers, and the monitor cannot be used in split-screen or multi-view mode.

Conclusion

The LG 24GL600F is an excellent screen for the vast majority of applications. The fast refresh rate and low input lag make it ideal for gaming, but it’s not as good for productivity or multimedia use. The stand is poorly designed, and the picture quality suffers in low light and when viewed from an angle, as with other TN displays.
