He has directed the story of this film, which is the awakening of a colonized South Indian village where the terrified and tortured residents experince a hellish predicament.

They even feel that it’s better to kill off their daughters before the lewd Britishers could make their move. So, the film portrays the atrocities committed by the Britishers on a colonized village in South India. Amid all these atrocities comes a young man who brutally mutilates the dictator’s son for touching his lover.

Hence, it gives rise to an uprising. The film is set in the fictional land of Madras of India, where Robert Clive, a British general, and his son, Justin have wreaked havoc and terror. They don’t think twice before killing anyone who doesn’t obey their orders. So, on 15th August, 1947, Justin asks the landlord of the fictional village to send his daughter Deepali to his mansion.

What Do The General People Say? Review Of The Film

As per the sources, it’s a promising film that has all the emotion that you’d expect. From action to drama, emotional scenes to adrenaline-rising scenes, the film has almost everything. Moreover, Gautham Karthik has done a fabulous job as Param in this film. He has stayed true to the character and executed everything perfectly.

On the other hand, Ravathy Sharma also played the role of Deepali exceedingly well. She hasn’t gone overboard in this film at all. The barbaric dictator’s role played by Richard Ashton is also commendable. Furthermore, we also have to say that the cinematography of this film was excellent.

The whole movie gave off an atmosphere of a hellish scape pervaded by the cruel Britishers who would stop at nothing to spit venom and cause havoc, both physically and psychologically. Needless to say, it’s an awesome film that deserves every bit of appreciation.

Final Words

At the end of the day, we have to say that NS Ponkumar has done a really good job as a director.  He has most certainly done a great job in his first outing as a director. The way he unfolded the plot in the first half was excellent. Even though one might argue that it’s not a ‘perfect’ film, as the second half of the film was a bit off, it’s an engaging film. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and evokes the feeling of patriotism as well.
