Theodore Robert Bundy also known as Ted Bundy, is a notorious American serial killer, kidnapped, and rapist murdered numerous young women and girls from the 20th century. The 1970s is still a most talked about decade and a distressing period because numerous women were a victim of this heartless serial killer. After a decade, the police got a prime suspect for the case, but the suspect still didn’t suit the crime profile. What was Ted Bundy? 

Ted Bundy was a cold-blooded serial killer who kidnapped, raped and murdered numerous young girls. It is even more saddening that the police of Newyork was in a very panicky situation. Women around the city were being abducted at an alarming rate, and they only had few leads to pursue this case. 

After a decade, the police got a prime suspect for the case, but the suspect still didn’t suit the crime profile. Further, after many investigations, evidence and denials Ted Bundy confessed to 30 homicides. All these murders were done between 1974 and 1978. Ted Bundy was born on 24th Nov 1946 in Burling, Vermont. The childhood life of Bundy was a tragedy. He was also claimed as the illegal son of Eleanor Louise Cowell. The father of Ted Bundy is unknown. There is a suspicion that he is the son of his grandfather, Samuel Cowell. He was very shy and was a victim of bullying in school. However, he was an intelligent and charming person in his college days. Ted Bundy studied in the University of Puget Sound. 

After that, he dropped out of college and started to work. Despite his stability, Bundy lacked social skills such as developing friendship, and he always chose to be alone. He also fell in love in college days, but the breakup of his first relationship made him feel devastated. Ted Bundy had unsettling issues with his stepfather in that time. His disturbing background, unsuccessful love life and his animalistic qualities didn’t reflect on his appearance. His family, his wife, the police were unaware of the horrifying character of Ted Bundy.

His ex said that she was completely unaware of the terrifying nature of him. Ted Bundy met Carole Ann Boone at a DES event, and she is a married woman with two children. He dated Boone on his initial arrest stages, and he was still not suspected as a serial killer. 

The couple got married in 1980 in a courtroom. In 1982 Boone got pregnant with Ted Bundy’s daughter named Rosa Bundy. All this happened when Ted Bundy was being suspected and arrested for murders around the city and women abduction cases. Until his death trial, Boone believed that Ted Bundy was innocent. But, when Ted Bundy confessed for his crimes and was, in fact, guilty she felt deeply betrayed. Later, after knowing about the true self of her husband, she and her daughter moved to Florida to start a new life. 

The victims of Ted Bundy 

Even though Ted confessed to 30 homicides, actual murders performed may be more than 100. Some of the researches and psychiatrist examinations prove that, He was a psychopath. At times, he was being diagnosed for bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder and antisocial disorder. He can be best described as a psychopath because he didn’t feel any guilt or empathy. He didn’t even know the reason for murdering the victims. 

American serial killer Bundy has performed 11 murders and rape in Washington. He went to different cities to lure and abduct the victims. Some of the victims were from Utah, Colorado, Florida, Oregon and California. The corpses of the victims were found many days after the murder. Ted was a dreadful criminal who also raped children, and he collected the skulls of the victims. There are still several unsolved murder cases from the 1970s, and the prime suspect for these cases is Theodore Robert Bundy. 

How was Ted Bundy Captured? 

In the year 1975, Ted Bundy was arrested for assault and kidnap cases. At the time, the police were not aware of the grievous crimes he performed in several cities. After investigation, he was being recognized as the prime suspect for several crimes that happened across the cities. Furthermore, in the same year, police came with an arrest warrant for murder charges, but he dramatically escaped from the police. Also, he escaped two times from the police custody and ran into the wilderness. 

After his escape, he continuously performed three murders in Florida. Despite the horrendous crimes he performed Ted Bundy received more spotlight. He was the most talked-about person in the 1970s. His radical escape from the police drew even more public attention. However, justice was to be offered for those innocent women, and a grave judgment was to be executed for Bundy’s hideous crimes. In 1978, the cold-hearted criminal was recaptured and received three death sentences in Florida. 1989 was a year of justice as Ted Bundy was electrocuted in a chair and was put to death.

Before his death, thousands of people and family of the victims gathered together outside the courtroom to see his execution. He committed some foul crimes and tortured so many innocent women.
