It’s Monday morning, and you feel like you’ve gotten hit by a bus. You had an incredible weekend, but now it’s time to get back into the swing of things. It’s often hard to recover from a wild weekend, so here are a few tips for getting your week back on track after a party-filled few days. 

Recovery process

Whether you’re trying to figure out how to stop a bad weed high or how to beat back a vodka hangover, the first step is to focus on recovery. Don’t push yourself to do too much too soon. Instead, prepare yourself to take time to recover. 

You should be able to recover from your party weekend within a day, as long as you take care of yourself. If you don’t allow yourself to rest or take the steps outlined here, your hangover could push into Tuesday or even Wednesday. So, set yourself up on the couch with water and some healthy snacks. Get some sleep

Taking short breaks throughout the day can help keep your mind clear and focused on what needs to get done next. A few minutes away from work or school every hour or two to meditate or close your eyes can do wonders for productivity.  

Avoid caffeine

A crucial part of the party-weekend recovery process is to avoid things like caffeine. Although a soda or cup of coffee may seem like quick fixes for low energy levels, they are not great for long-term recovery after a wild weekend. Coffee is very acidic, which can worsen an already sour stomach. 

Instead, try drinking green or herbal teas and eating high-protein snacks. Foods like nuts or seeds will provide lasting energy boosts without causing a crash later in the day. In addition, peppermint tea is an excellent beverage to help ease an upset stomach. 

Get fresh air

Getting outside into some fresh air can help clear your head after being inside all weekend partying. Taking a walk around the block or meditating in nature for a few minutes can be very calming and energizing at the same time. 

Ideally, you can do the exercise mentioned above in your backyard or local park. Take your yoga mat out back and do some stretches, or skip the treadmill and run outside instead. A few minutes of sunshine and the sounds of nature can be truly revitalizing.
