One of the most symptoms that most women experience in early pregnancy is morning sickness or nausea. Most of the women will get nausea in the first three to four months of pregnancy. But for some unlucky women, will experience this nausea throughout the pregnancy till the third trimester. If women experience morning sickness continuously throughout the pregnancy, then their condition will be exhausting.

Here are the reasons that why is woman getting nausea in third trimester.

Usually, the uterus grows bigger in the third trimester of pregnancy. Because of the increase in the size of the uterus, the upper abdominal parts get compressed. As a result, women feel severe nausea and heartburn. Thus, the reason is that with the compression of abdominal parts against the diaphragm, stomach acids are moving into the food pipe.

Acid reflux is known as heartburn which is another common symptom in the third trimester of pregnancy. With the hormonal changes, the muscles in the digestive tract will get some relaxation and the stomach acids will move up to the food pipe or esophagus. Thus, you will get heartburn and also feel stomach upset.

The slow movement of the food from the stomach into the small intestine is the condition, ‘Gastroparesis.’ Women may suffer from this condition during the third trimester. When the uterus is growing bigger, it will start pressing the food in the stomach. Thus, sometimes the food may move back into the stomach from the intestine and even out. As a result, you will get painful heartburn and nausea.

Heavy Meals:

During the third trimester, some women may eat heavy meals, as they feel much appetite. In such a situation, heavy meals lead to nausea. Since the uterus will get bigger day by day, it will push up on your stomach. Thus, your stomach will have less space for food and you will get nausea finally. So, to avoid this nausea due to heavy meals, doctors advise pregnant ladies to have a small quantity of healthy food five to six times a day.

Preeclampsia:

Some women may get Preeclampsia if they experience nausea with other conditions like

  • Abdominal pain
  • Visual issues
  • Severe headaches
  • Facial swelling

Thus, Preeclampsia is a life-threatening issue and one has to get proper treatment if one has any of the above symptoms. This condition is dangerous as it will affect both mother and baby. If the pregnant woman has preeclampsia, then it may cause

  • Strokes
  • Liver failure
  • Seizures
  • Fluid in the lungs
  • Kidney damage
  • Blood clots

Labor:

For some women, nausea in third trimester is a sign of getting nearer to labor. They may also have other symptoms like

  • Cramps
  • Backache
  • Diarrhea
  • Increase in vaginal discharge
  • Pelvic pressure

How To Control Nausea In Third Trimester?

A pregnant woman can control nausea in the third trimester in the following ways.

  • Eating less spicy food
  • Taking small meals at least five times a day
  • Avoiding sleep soon after your dinner
  • Take rest most of the time by keeping your feet up. Mainly, in the middle of the day, it is better to take a rest
  • Reducing the amount of caffeine intake
  • Exercising regularly after consulting your doctor
  • Avoiding the fluids intake along with your food
