Star Wars Legion is all the rage right now when it comes to games available at Unplugged Gaming. It replicates some of the best battles in the Star Wars Universe and allows you to command an army of your own. Star Wars Legion miniatures include some of the most iconic characters from the franchise, like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, along with some of the most powerful vehicles in the Star Wars Universe. New leaders are forged in battle every day, and it’s now time for you to enter their ranks.

It’s all about strategy

Your skill and military acumen play out amid fierce ground battles, and the best strategist comes out victorious at the end. Mastering the game’s commands is one of the most critical factors in ensuring victory, with movement and combat forming the crux of the game. The wide range of cards available in the game and their specific roles make it one of the most unique and engaging gameplay experiences.

The game is played over six rounds between two players. One of you dons the shoes of the Galactic Empire while the other commands the army of the Rebel Alliance. During the game, each of you fights over specific objectives, giving you victory points. Achieve these objectives while launching cunning attacks on your enemy, defending against their attacks, and outmaneuvering them on the battleground. The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.

What’s included?

The Star Wars Legion Core Set contains all the pieces you require to play your game and can give you quite the nostalgic rush. To make things more interesting, awe-inspiring expansion packs allow you to bring in custom characters and unique tactics, elevating your gameplay to the next level. Each player has a great deal of flexibility while building armies, but all of the troops in each army must be a part of one faction. This is where you pick between the Alliance and the Dark Side.

Each army can have one or two commanders, and you can decide who fights for you, Darth Vader or the Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker. Three to six core units fight alongside your commander for glory on the battlefield. To support your commander and troops, you can bring in up to three special forces, support units, and heavy units. You can upgrade each of these units or assign them special abilities to give you an edge in the battle. Every single unit in your army and each special ability is worth a fixed number of points. While a traditional game consists of 800 points worth of units, you can set any number you wish for your game.

Take command of your troops

At the start of each round, the first card you play is the Command Card. This card determines who goes first and allows you to issue commands to your troops.

During this turn, you can activate a unit you have commanded or draw a token to randomly determine which troop to activate.

Each of your activated units can do two actions, like move and attack or aim and dodge. The custom dice used in the game determine your troops’ attack or defense actions and launch the specific abilities your army possesses.

All these activations take place in turns and go on till either side has no unit left to activate.

These actions take place round by round, with each side attacking and defending with their armies. The game ends when a side achieves the victory objective, loses all troops, or completes all six rounds.

In the third scenario, the victory points granted for each objective are added together to select the ultimate winner of the game.

Outside the rulebook, the possibilities of the game are endless. You can create specific scenarios and terrains based on the different battles which take place in the franchise for a much more immersive gameplay experience.

The game’s innovative mechanics place you right inside the battlefield, marshaling your troops against the enemy.

As a bonus, the game also works great if you wish to play solo. The customizability of the game allows you to play out different events, commanding both the dark and light at the same time.

You can weave a beautiful battle right within the confines of your home. Will it be the oppressive Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance that ends up victorious on the battlefield? The fate of the galaxy rests in your hands, warrior. Victory be yours- and so be the game!
