It is common for newborn babies to get a stomach ache and, this pain may come at any time unexpectedly. Sometimes, your baby stays happy however, they may start crying out of this stomach ache suddenly. Soon after getting this stomach ache, they will not feel comfortable. This stomach ache may even disturb her sleep time and thus, babies may be fussy.

Gas:

Gas in babies is the most reason for getting stomach aches in newborn babies. Many reasons may cause gas in newborns such as

  • Intake of excessive wind

  • Change in formula

It is common to get gas inside the baby’s tummy, as the normal bacteria living in the tummy produce this gas. Since a baby’s intestines and stomach are not fully grown, it will not digest foods easily. Thus it will lead to gas formation and pain.

Signs To Find Out For Your Baby Has Gas:

If your baby has a gas problem, he will cry a lot and stay fussy. Additionally, while crying, they will again intake a lot of air. It will make them feel much uncomfortable.

Constipation:

Constipation is another common thing in babies. It will happen in babies soon after you start giving them, solid food or new food. When you change from breastfeeding to some formula or regular milk, or milk to solid foods, babies get constipation.

Signs:

  • In case of constipation, the baby’s poop will be like little balls and they find it harder to excrete them.
  • They will even fart a lot and find it hard to poop.

Diarrhea:

Diarrhea means loose, frequent, and watery stools excreting by babies. This diarrhea is much dangerous, as it makes the babies get dehydration. This condition may happen only if your baby has got a virus exposure. Sometimes, contaminated or spoiled food may also happen lead to this diarrhea. But parents stay conscious of giving good food to babies but not spoiled food. 

Signs:

Babies taking breastfeed is common to get watery stools. So never mistake of considering it as diarrhea. But your baby may have diarrhea if he/she is passing excessive stools many times.

Acid Reflux:

Acid reflux is the condition that arises when the valve between the esophagus and stomach is not working well. In such a situation, the food and milk will move up from the stomach to the throat irritating. This is common due to the baby’s immature digestive system.

Signs:

Babies will start spitting up the milk due to acid reflux. When the baby spits more than usual, then they will get a stomach ache.

GERD:

GERD stands for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. It is the worst and dangerous form of acid reflux. This condition happens when the valve between the stomach and esophagus is not at all working. It is a serious condition and the baby requires complete care and attention from the doctor.

Signs:

Babies with this GERD will get terrible pain and thus, they will cry and stay fussy always. They usually cry after you finish feeding them. Some of the symptoms include

  • Coughing
  • Wheezing
  • Gagging
  • Choking

Overfeeding:

This is a common mistake that most parents do for their babies. Whenever, their babies’ cry, they will simply feed them thinking that they are hungry. But your babies will not cry all the time for hunger. Thus, overfeeding them will also cause stomach ache.
