Ozark Season 5

Ozark Season 5 is no longer on the way and fans will be disappointed about it. There are very few fans of crime thrillers in the world who have not seen Ozark yet. The daring, exciting story of the Byrde family as they relocate to a fairly rural place following a corruption deal that goes sideways is top notch. Jason Bateman is one of the best actors that the world of cinema has produced so far and we are very excited to see where he goes from here. There is action and drama packed into the series.

Where to Watch

You can watch the previous seasons in their entirety on Netflix. The life of Marty Byrde as a cleaner or money launderer for the mob will interest and excite you in equal measure. The screenplay never stagnates or deviates from the core idea. That alone should give viewers an idea of how interesting this show is. One can also find the show on various streaming platforms or even download them from websites like Pahe and Kickasstorrents. Either way it is a must watch and you cannot miss them for anything in the world.

Cancellation of the Series

Fans of Ozark might be disappointed to know there won’t be a new season. The creators and streaming platform decided to end the series in 2020. They probably felt it was the right time to conclude the Byrde family’s story. Some might be sad, but others are grateful for the four great years of the show. Jason Bateman, the main actor, said extending it might lower its quality and impact on viewers. Viewers will understand that many high quality shows lost their sheen because of the way they were dragged through a field of mud.

Fan Theories

Ozark is about Marty and Wendy Byrde, played by Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. They move from Chicago to the Ozarks and face many problems. Marty’s connections to the area lead to four seasons of challenges. He has to adapt to his new home and repay money he took from a drug cartel during his past. This alone makes for some of the most interesting storytelling in crime thrillers. The rest of the series might have talked about how Marty decides to avoid a grisly fate at the hands of the mob to whom he owes his business.

These are the top characters in Ozark throughout its run.

Marty Byrde

Marty Byrde

Jason Bateman is a talented Hollywood actor known for his comedy, but his role as Marty Byrde in Ozark shows his dramatic skills. He’s great at dealing with difficult situations and protecting his family. He is a very haunted man and seeks a way out of the predicament he has gotten himself and his family into. At the same time he loves his wife and children too much to let any harm come to them. His skills as a money launderer are also extreme to say the least.

Ruth Langmore

Ruth LangmoreOne should not take Ruth’s babyface and terrible language as a sign of immaturity. Julia Garner plays Ruth who is a smart and ambitious character. Don’t be fooled by her looks because she’s tough and doesn’t care about anyone but herself. Such incredible ambition is often cruel for the character and paves the way for his downfall. But Ruth is one of the shrewdest characters in the history of cinema and she wants nothing but the best for herself and her family. Being a crook since childhood has honed her skills to a great extent which shows.

Wendy Byrde

Wendy Byrde

Laura Linney’s character Wendy is essential for her family’s financial success. She’s smart and determined and even though she’s pressured by the cartel she becomes the public face of Marty’s operation. Unlike her husband she craves power and is skilled at manipulating situations. Sometimes she can seem ruthless and passive-aggressive. This is quite evident from the fact that she was involved in a passionate extra marital affair with a much older man simply because he is wealthy and has a lot of connections all over the world. Marty catches her only to be subjected to her violent victim card-playing.

Ben Davis

Ben Davis

Tom Pelphrey’s character Ben is introduced in season three and viewers quickly start supporting him. He forms strong bonds with characters like Ruth and Jonah as well as Wendy. His death is one of the most shocking moments in the series especially because he believed Wendy loved him and would support him no matter what. Such powerful characters leave a very deep impression on all viewers and fans of the series. The finale of Ben’s character came as a very tragic moment for all viewers who loved or hated his character. His death is extremely shocking to say the least.

Buddy Dieker

Buddy Dieker

Harris Yulin plays Buddy. He is a terminally ill tenant and close friend of the family for the first two seasons. He’s a very likable man and his caring and protective nature make him a fan favorite. He surprises everyone by shooting an intruder to protect Wendy and the kids. What’s most interesting is his mysterious past as he has ties to the KC mob and isn’t fazed by the Byrdes’ life of crime. Such a person is always an interesting addition to the series and viewers will love watching him in action when the series starts.

A Power-Packed Production House

Jason Bateman, who acts in the series and directs many episodes, is a key figure in the chaotic story. Alik Sakharov, a highly skilled cinematographer, is also involved. The future looks promising for crime thriller fans with these two talents. There’s speculation that crime thrillers will regain popularity in the coming years, and Jason Bateman has been in several crime series recently. The fans of crime thrillers will see an upsurge in the number of such shows. It is really good how more and more people are promoting such shows in the media fraternity.

An Example of Subconscious Technique

The cinematographers on Ozark have admitted to employing subtle methods to enhance the show’s cinematic quality. If you’ve watched it you’ll notice how the towering trees and deep colors symbolize the threats surrounding the family. The distinctive cool-blue filter in the show gradually darkens making the scenic backdrop take on a character of its own. Fans of the series have admitted time and again how they find the scenes surreal in quality. They almost blend into each other with a smooth motion that will make it feel like everybody is watching a painting or a storyboard.

Another Show Like This

If you’ve finished watching Ozark’s four seasons you might have also seen Breaking Bad. Many believe Ozark followed in Breaking Bad’s footsteps as both share significant similarities. Just like Jason Bateman’s Marty, Bryan Cranston’s Walter White is drawn into the criminal world with both characters striving to protect their families. The original few seasons are some of the darkest and most violent in cinematic history. Fans still rewatch these episodes for their iconic dialogues and relationship between the lead pair and the literal chemistry required to cook drugs. Overall one might say it is one hell of a story.
